Robin Paradis-Kent has been an avid reader since she was very small. Writing has also always come naturally and easily; Robin was co-editor in Chief of the award-winning Cedarburg High School newspaper, and her first published article appeared in the Milwaukee Journal when Robin was a junior at CHS. She owes a great debt of gratitude to her many teachers, as she received a fabulous education through the Cedarburg Public School system.
Robin began playing the piano in the 4th grade, studying with Cedarburg keyboardist and instructor Mrs. Margaret Radke, and began accompanying students for Solo and Ensemble, Talent Shows, and other performances while in middle and high school. She also accompanied many of the choirs @ CHS, [the Girls Glee, Mixed, Concert, and Swing Choirs].
She was privileged to have had two exceptionally excellent Cedarburg School District music teachers, Mr. Allen Roberts and Mrs. Lorraine Greenberg, who instilled in her a love of music and a desire to share her talent with others.
After high school and during college, Robin accompanied various community musical theater productions and the touring Oshkosh Gospel Choir for a number of years; and, as keyboardist in a small band, played at the Oshkosh Residence Life CoffeeHouse and at campus affairs, as well as performing solo. After college, Robin continued to play the piano at various events, and when her friends began asking her to offer piano lessons and teach their children to play, she opened the original Stone House Piano Studio in 1988. With the exception of the year she spent with her family in Tokyo, Japan, and a few years thereafter, she has been teaching piano ever since.
Robin has taught in many different types of schools, both public and private; and at many levels: elementary, high school, and college (both here in the greater Milwaukee area and in Tokyo, Japan). She is very familiar with the Wisconsin State and Common Core Standards in both English and Music; the 21stCentury Learning Skills initiatives; and has written curriculum for both subjects. She is quite adept at servicing a wide range of learning styles and levels of abilities, and tries to always stay current with the best practices in music and English/Language Arts education.
When it comes to deciding about which subject she is more passionate, there is no question: both !!! Listening to great music while reading a fantastic book is about as good as it gets! She’d like to share these passions with you and your child(ren)! Today, with her desire to offer not only piano instruction, but tutoring assistance, as well, the Stone House Studio is open for business!
